NZA claim T20 series in Dubai

An unbeaten Glenn Phillips half century has helped New Zealand A to a five-wicket win and a 2-1 T20 series victory over Pakistan A at the ICC Academy in Dubai.

Scorecard

Phillips scored 69* as the New Zealand A side chased down their target of 157 with an over to spare.

The visitors were once again asked to bowl first and were tested by the Pakistan A batsmen early on.

It wasn’t until the end of the 10th over that Lockie Ferguson claimed the first wicket, knocking over opener Umar Amin.

Spinners Todd Astle (2-29) and Ajaz Patel (1-24) did a good job of restricting the Pakistan A batting effort, eventually finishing 156/6 after 20 overs.

The New Zealand A reply didn’t start well losing George Worker in the opening over, but after scoring a half century in the second T20, Phillips was once again in fine form with the bat.

He struck five fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 69 off just 50 balls.

Cameos throughout the middle order supported Phillips, captain Corey Anderson striking two big sixes in his quickfire 22.
