Auckland Aces opener Tim McIntosh scored his maiden One-Day century to set up a convincing 84 run victory over the Otago Volts at Whitestone Contracting Stadium, Oamaru.
Tall left-hander McIntosh, better known as at Test specialist, cracked 16 fours and three sixes in his 138 off 127 balls to anchor the visitors to 362 for five of 50 overs.
Reece Young was also in good touch making 94 off 91 deliveries, sharing a 194 run partnership with McIntosh for the second wicket.
Captain Scott Styris came to the crease with a nine overs to go and went on a six-hitting spree as he battered the Volts attack to all parts. He blasted seven over the rope on his way to 55 off only 23 balls.
Aces fast bowler Lance Shaw then took a four wicket haul to restrict the Volts to 278 in 46.5 overs. He finished with career best figures of four for 49.
Only Greg Todd was the only top order batsman to make a contribution with 69 but number eight batsman Yasir Arafat gave them hope with an aggressive unbeaten 110 off 81 balls but it was too little to late.
The win sees the Auckland Aces extend their lead at the top of the table with the Otago Volts back in sixth place.
