Canterbury Magicians made light work of Wellington Blaze to stroll to a commanding win in the Action Twenty20 cricket final here today.
The southerners left town with the spoils after chasing down the home side's unchallenging 100 for eight for the loss of only four wickets.
Their six-wicket win was raised with 10 balls to spare at the Basin Reserve after their leading players provided the significant contributions.
Amy Satterthwaite fronted firstly with the ball to take three for 19 off her four overs as Wellington could not recover from the cheap dismissals of their heavy hitters, English import Sarah Taylor and New Zealand international Sophie Devine.
Satterthwaite then also left her mark with the bat as she scored 23 off 39 balls after Canterbury hit an early speed bump at nine for two after just 15 balls.
She helped right the ship, receiving valuable assistance by Maria Fahey, who topscored with 41 off 46 balls before being bowled by Devine.
But by the time Fahey departed Canterbury were 95 for four and the hard work had been done.
A consolation for Wellington was the fact Sophie Devine won the overall women's MVP title on the back of solid performances in the Action Cricket Cup and Action Cup competitions this season.
