Lynch secures win with record innings

The Auckland Hearts made easy work of the Canterbury Magicians total off 244 with opener Michelle Lynch hitting a record 150 not out at Melville Park, Auckland.

Lynch brought up the milestone with the winning run as the Hearts cruised to victory with over four overs to spare.

It is the highest individual score by an Auckland batsman, surpassing the 118 achieved by Rebecca Rolls and Emily Drumm.  Lynch hit 18 boundaries in her record innings with her previous best being 69.

Fellow opener Kelly Sutherland made 31 but it was Lynch who dominated the 104 run opening stand.

Earlier, Canterbury made a respectable 244 with Mandie Godliman top scoring with 73.  Captain Amy Satterthwaite also notched up a half century with 55 but it was in vain.

Hearts strike bowler Natalee Scripps continued her good form with the ball taking three for 43 with Paula Gruber returning an economical one for 36.  Scripps now features in the top ten of the MVP for the first time this season.

The win vaults the Auckland Hearts into second spot on the points table with the Canterbury Magicians propping up the bottom.
