In round six of the women's One-Day Competition, Otago Sparks captain Suzie Bates top-scored for the second time in as many days for her side, producing a dogged 43 in her 100th one-day match for the team at Molyneux Park.
However, the Sparks’ tally of 190 was not enough to stop the Central Hinds from taking revenge with a four-wicket win, despite 3-24 from spinner Leigh Kasperek.
Earlier, Hinds captain Kate Broadmore had also claimed 3-24, and taken two catches, and helped effect a run out before producing 37 with the bat in a solid all-round effort.
Domestic competition resumes on Friday 29 January (Women’s Twenty20, round four), followed on 30 and 31 January by rounds seven and eight of the Women’s One-Day Competition at Fitzherbert Park, Palmerston North (Central Hinds v Wellington Blaze), Hagley Oval, Christchurch (Canterbury Magicians v Otago Sparks) and Bruce Pulman Park, Auckland (Auckland Hearts v Northern Spirit).
