The Canterbury Magicians were made to fight hard for ther four wicket victory over the Central Hinds - their win third of the season.
The Magicians chose to have a bowl and would have been relieved to see the back of star player Rachel Priest early. Unfortunately for the Hinds things got worse, when key batsman Sara McGlashan was run out for a diamond duck.
All-rounder Kate Broadmore got her team back on track as she played a sensible innings of 25.
Canterbury continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals, but gifted Central their second highest scorer of the innings giving away 23 extras. At the end of the 20 overs the Hinds finished on 83 for eight.
Despite the number of wides delivered, the Magicians bowled well to restrict the home team to such a low score. The defending champs shared the wickets evenly and were brilliant in the field, effecting two run outs.
For the first time this season Canterbury made a bad start to their innings, with Janet Brehaut and Amy Satterthwaite both dismissed cheaply.
However, it was a familiar story for opener Francis Mackay, who carried on her outstanding form with a classy 36 before falling to K Tomlinson.
After her dismissal the Magicians looked shaky, slumping to 78 for six, but with only six runs needed for victory, Central were never going to be able to do enough. Kendal hit the running wins with three balls to spare, helping Canterbury to a four wicket win.
Kate Broadmore put up the biggest fight for the Hinds and finished with three wickets for eight runs.
