Hearts trump Hinds in brutal win

Defending champs the Auckland Hearts continued to make life difficult for their visitors at Melville Park, leaving the Central Hinds winless and stinging after a nine-wicket Sunday drubbing.

Scorecard

For the Hearts, it was an opportunity not to be missed as they chased the unbeaten Canterbury Magicians on the table.

Sharp fielding was again a local feature as Vic Lind’s well-disciplined side restricted their guests to 167/7.

Anlo van Deventer top-scored with just 43 for the Hinds, before the Hearts rampaged through their chase to polish off the winning runs with 16.2 overs to spare — another bonus point in the bag.

Anna Peterson led the way, top-scoring with a punishing, unbeaten 79 in an unbroken 95-run stand with Sara McGlashan, after having already put on 76 for the first wicket with Lauren Down (29).

Points table after round four

All six teams will meet in Round Five in Lincoln on 28 December.
