Hutt International Boys’ School came back to give Palmerston North BHS a real scare, but failed to chase down the 210 they were set in the third day of the Gillette Cup finals.
Palmerston North decided to bat after winning the toss and found themselves in a spot of bother at 60 for four after 18 overs. James Holland steadied the ship for the batting side with a timely 67. The lower order continued to provide for Palmerston North with Regan Dewar (37) and Navin Patel (25*) helping their team get to the respectable total of 210 for eight. Will Brunton was the pick of the bowlers for Hutt and ended with figures of two for 35 in his ten overs.
Hutt’s’ innings was remarkably similar to that of Palmerston’s, as they found themselves reeling at 55 for four. Luckily they had a hero of their own - Sam Fraser played brilliantly for his 62 and was helped by cameos from Ben Skilton (25) and Nathan Canton (39). Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for Hutt International, as they were rolled for 190 in the 49th over. Robbie Yule did the most damage for Palmerston North, taking three wickets for 30 runs in 9.1 overs, leading his team to victory by 20 runs.
