Wellington Blaze run out comfortable winners over Auckland Hearts thanks to a superb all-round performance from Lucy Doolan at Colin Maiden Park No2 in Auckland.
After losing the toss and being put into bat Wellington put on 246 for five and then bundled out Auckland for 153 in 46.1 overs – giving them a 93 run win.
Doolan set the tone at the top of the order with at classy 74 while Liz Perry finished off the innings in style, lashing 51 not out off 39 balls.
Opener Sarah Bradbury chipped in with a useful 37 while Sarah Taylor made 40.
The Auckland reply never really got going with Megan Tremaine’s 28 their best.
Doolan backed up her quality batting by ripping through the Auckland top five batsmen to finish with outstanding figures of five for 38.
