Doolan stars as White Ferns make it two from two

The White Ferns have notched up their second win off the ICC World Twenty20 when they beat the West Indies by 52 runs at the County Ground in Taunton.

After winning the toss and electing to bat the White Ferns openers Suzie Bates and Lucy Doolan went about dispatching the West Indian attack to all parts of the ground - putting on 94 for the first wicket.

Doolan struck 41 from 38 including three powerful sixes with Bates blasting 60 off 39 at the other end.

“I enjoy batting with Lucy as she plays a different game to me and accesses different parts of the ground so we complement each other well,” Bates said.

The West Indian bowlers fought back in the latter part of the innings but the damage had been done and the White Ferns had 158 on the board.

Stafanie Taylor was the best of the West Indies attack taking two for 25 off four overs.

Taylor then backed up her bowling with an impressive 58 not out form 56 balls but she lacked support from the rest of the West Indies line up with the target never being threatened.

The White Ferns were disciplined in the field taking all their chances and completing three runs outs.

Batting star Doolan took three for 16 off four overs with her off-breaks to complete a fine match.

The White Ferns play the South Africa on 15 June at 12:00 noon (UK time), 11:00pm (NZ time).
