Sophie Devine starred with the bat and ball as the White Ferns cruised to a five wicket win in the second Twenty20 match against the Australian Southern Stars at Bellerive Oval at Hobart.
A superb bowling effort by the White Ferns kept the Australians to 115 for and they then chased down the target with over three overs to spare.
Australia made a steady start after winning the toss and electing to bat, putting on 43 for the first wicket but once Sophie Devine ripped out both openers the momentum swung towards the White Ferns and was never relinquished.
Alex Blackwell provided some resistance with a swift 40 from 38 deliveries but wickets kept tumbling at the other end.
Strike bowler Devine finished with three for 24 while all-rounder Suzie Bates did a tidy job in taking two for 20 in her four overs.
The run chase was dominated by a second wicket partnership of 75 between Devine and Aimee Watkins
Devine was the aggressor, striking a eight boundaries in a blistering 48 off 31 deliveries white Watkins anchored the innings with a solid 36 from 38.
The loss of Devine induced some jitters late in the innings with the tourists losing three wickets for nine runs but cool heads from Amy Satterthwaite (7*) and Erin Bermingham (8*) guided the White Ferns home.
It is the second win in as many days for the White Ferns who have bounced back from the 5-0 loss in the One-Day International series and have a chance to make it three in a row with the final Twenty20 played at the same venue tomorrow.
