Central find winning ways again

Central Districts have fought brilliantly to record a crucial win against rivals Northern Districts in the Under-18 Tournament at Lincoln.

Needing 5 runs off the last over for victory Central did it with three balls and three wickets to spare to go top of the table with Auckland.

Northern decided to bat first after winning the toss, but never looked completely comfortable at the crease.

Many of their top-order made starts, but didn’t convert their time at the crease into big scores and it soon took its toll on the scorecard.

Northern were all out for 180 after 47.1 overs with no one making it to the 40 mark.

James McDougall picked up three wickets for central and then continued his stellar game with the bat.

McDougall came in when Central were in trouble and along with Byrnn Cleaver(49) carried his team to victory in dramatic style.

McDougall saw wickets tumbling, but stayed cool and managed to hit a four off the fourth ball of the final over to secure a three wicket victory for Central.

McDougall finished on 87 not out and nearly single-handedly saw his team back to the top of the table.
