Central dominate

Central Districts have made light work of Wellington in the neighbours round of the U18 Cup.

Central bowled first and were dominant with the ball which set them up for a 10 wicket win after needing just 16 runs in their second innings for victory.

Central bowled well on the first day to dismiss Wellington for just 91. The lads from the capital battled with the bat and Mark McIlvride top scored with just 21.

In reply Central showed a little more resistance to the bowling attack and managed to make 187 in their first innings.  Angus Shaw deserves a mention with his 72. It would be enough to wrap up first innings points.

Wellington then came in and needed to survive the day to make sure Central didn’t claim second innings points as well.

They couldn’t keep out the Central bowlers and again folded for 114. Navin Patel did a lot of the damage for Central and picked up figures of five for 25 from ten overs.

It left Central with just 17 to get for victory and they did it without losing a wicket. Byrnn Cleaver finished off the match with a six.
