Australia have beaten the White Ferns by 19 runs in the final Rose Bowl One Day International at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
The home side had at three-two lead going into the final match after the Twenty20 component was shared two-all and they won the ODI two days ago.
The win was set up by the Australian spin bowlers after the White Ferns were set 223.
Lucy Doolan and Frances McKay got White Ferns off to a promising start, putting on 45 for the first wicket.
However, the introduction of spinners Shelley Nitschke and Lisa Sthalekar saw them tumble to 97 for six before captain Aimee Watkins and Nicola Browne steadied with a 41 run partnership for the seventh wicket.
Watkins, who was playing her 100th ODI, blasted her way to 49 off 45 deliveries. Browne fought on but unfortunately ran out of partners and was left stranded on 54 not out – the White Ferns all out for 203 in 46.1 overs.
Nitschke and Sthalekar were the pick of the bowlers taking three for 36 and three for 28 respectively, while medium pacers Sarah Coyte and Erin Osborne chipped in with two apiece.
Earlier, Austaralia’s 222 all out was largely thanks to a patient 51 off 69 balls from Alex Blackwell and hard hit 27 from 16 balls from number ten batman Clea Smith.
White Ferns pace bowler Kelly Anderson caused most of the damage with three for 45 and was well supported by Browne who picked up two for 35.
The White Ferns and Australia now head to the UK where they will take part in the Quadrangular series along with hosts England and India.
