Australia take out Twenty20 series against White Ferns

The White Ferns have lost the Twenty20 series to Australia 2-1 after being beaten by 32 runs in the final match in Brisbane.

Australia made 124 after being put into bat and then rolled the White Ferns for 92 after 18 overs to win the match and secure the series ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 which starts in England next week.

Opener Leah Poulton was impressive at the top of the order hitting 30 off 27 with the other in form batsman Lisa Sthalekar top scoring with 34 off 29.

White Ferns captain Aimee Watkins was the most successful of the bowlers taking two for 26 off her four overs with Sophie Devine returning economical figures of one for 12 off three.

In reply, the White Ferns struggled with no batsman able to get on top of the Australian attack.

Suzie Bates top scored for New Zealand with 16 as on Amy Satterthwaite and Sophie Devine the only other players to reaching double figures.

Sarah Andrews was the chief destroyer for the Australians taking three for 16 with Rene Farrell and Lisa Sthalekar picking up two apiece.

The next match is an ICC World Twenty20 warm up against England on 8th June at Kings College Ground in Taunton, England.
